About

Gardening Stuff is an independent site with plain-language guides for home gardeners: getting started, growing vegetables and herbs, flowers and pollinator planting, soil and compost, and gardening indoors or in small spaces.

What we cover

  • Getting started: planning a garden, tools, zones and bed types
  • Vegetables and herbs for home growing
  • Flowers, bulbs and planting for pollinators
  • Soil, compost, watering and gentle pest management
  • Houseplants, containers and balcony gardening

How we write

We aim for a neutral, practical tone. Where advice is traditional rather than well tested, we say so. We do not give pesticide dosing advice; if you use any garden product, follow its label and local regulations.

Your conditions come first

Gardening advice is general by nature. Climate, soil, rainfall, frost dates and local pests vary widely, so please adapt what you read here to your own garden. Local extension services, gardening organisations and nurseries are excellent sources of region-specific advice. Before eating any plant, be certain of its identity, and check whether plants are safe for pets and children in your home.
